The Last Straw

That straw you’re sipping your cool drink with seems pretty harmless, but it isn’t. Around 500 million plastic straws are used every day— and that’s just in the United States. Worldwide, the number is far greater. Straws are only used for a few minutes and thrown away, but they are too small to be recycled and take many years to break down. These small objects are a major danger to animal life, as you can see in the video below.  Because they are so small, animals often mistake them for food. And because they are round, they can lead to suffocation. So next time you order a drink, pass on the straw.
