Love her or hate her, but it’s hard to ignore her. With her flamboyant outfits and dramatic live shows, Lady Gaga is one of the most creative artists of all time. Her real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta and she has been spreading her music on our screens since 2001. She has sold a staggering 27 million albums and 146 million singles so far. You’ve probably heard her song, Born This Way, which she says is her ” freedom song”; it is a song about being complete with who you are and owning it; it makes all of us want to sing along to the lyrics loud and proud and be proud of our uniqueness.
So yes, we can’t get enough of the song “Born this way”, singing along to it at every chance we get, but did you know that she’s the founder of the Born This Way Foundation? The foundation empowers and inspires young people around the world to build a safer and kinder world for everyone, and also provides opportunities to improve local communities.
Lady Gaga is well known for her fight against bullying; she has even met with President Obama after Jamey Rodemeyer, a middle school teenager, hanged himself after suffering severe bullying for being bisexual.
“Channel Kindness” is a new addition to the Born This Way Foundation; it involves 50 teenagers who find and report the acts of kindness they see in their day, all in an effort to engage and empower teenagers and show them that love is stronger than hate and that there is good in the world, not just acts of hate that we see on the news. Get involved by supporting Channel Kindness or even just get familiar with the Born This Way Foundation.
Be a force for good!
