What’s All This About Water?

You’ve probably been told you should drink six glasses of water a day. Maybe more. But how much should you really drink and why is it important?

Well, your body is made up of a lot of water. In fact, it makes up about 60 percent of your body weight. Key systems in your body depend on water to function, and you lose quite a bit daily. Not having enough water can make you dehydrated, which can lead to a lack of energy and tiredness. So how much fluid should you actually drink? In the case of men, take that number and double it. According to the The Institute of Medicine, men should drink about 13 cups (3 liters) a day, while women should drink 9 cups (2.2 liters) a day. More than you thought?
