Background

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A new year is here and it’s an excellent opportunity to start something new in your life! Many TeenBuzz readers told us that one of their New-Year’s resolutions is to get in shape this year. So, especially for you, I gathered the best five ways to get started:

1. Inspiration
WHY do you want to get in shape? Find your reason for being fit so you’ll have motivation throughout your journey. Remember to write it down and even hang it up in your bedroom. Just make sure it’s always there in front of you.

2. Make (Slightly) Better Food Choices
Proper and balanced nutrition is essential for a healthy life, not only for people who want to get in shape. Read about what foods are right for you and talk to professionals. My advice? Change things gradually – pick one new food change every week, and stick with it.

3. Formulate a workout plan
Start gradually and work up to three 40-minute workouts each week, at specific times. Your exercise schedule needs to be as important as any other things you have on your agenda. Vary your routine, like running one day and a dance class on another.

4. Have support
You’re less likely to skip a workout if you know a friend is waiting for you, and having a partner is good for emotional support too.

5. Reward Yourself
Think of what and when you deserve after you achieve your goals. It can be a movie night after a full week of workouts or a tasty ice-cream after maintaining your food choices. Whatever it is – you deserve it!

Do you have another tip that will help others get in shape? Tell us all about it!
